Our Mission & Philosophy

We think libraries are a cultural treasure and a vital part of our country's intellectual and economic growth. We believe that a library needs well-educated, motivated people whose primary goal is to help their patrons and a quality collection to support that goal.

We have one mission - giving library users the greatest possible access to library materials through a clean, content-rich database. It just so happens that in doing that, we help you reduce your workload, shrink operations costs and spend more time focused on your patrons - person-to-person. We also provide tools, at no cost, to institutions providing coursework and training to future librarians, as another vital step towards achieving our mission.

Our History

Founded in the late 1980's as Information Transform, Mitinet lead the way in automating MARC records for libraries as they converted from print-based card catalogs to computerized databases, beginning with the world's first integrated library system - the RLN system at Stanford University. Mitinet continued to lead the way by participating in notable metadata projects with premier institutions such as the Queens Borough Public Library, Oxford University and the Beijing Library, among others.

Mitinet developed the first ever PC-based MARC cataloging tools (MARC Magician) to help school libraries create electronic records and manage data within the then-new automated library environment. Automated MARC record generation software and then data cleanup software soon followed, as we responded to changing customer needs.

Today we continue to lead the market in personalized and high-tech library data solutions for our customers with the introduction of Full Circle Support, and BestMARC™, our cloud-based MARC record database management platform.

Our offices are located in Verona, WI. and Bethany, MO.

  • The records are amazing – matter of fact we really can’t say "cleaned" we need to say "all new MARC records" because that is really what they are. Dixon USD just started using Alexandria the week of January 11, 2016. I know that the library tech who handles the middle & high school is thrilled with being able to “find” titles because there are now subject headings. What a concept!!
