Founded in 1989, Mitinet Library Services — originally known as Information Transform, Inc. — was a pioneer in automating MARC records to help transform print-based card catalogs to a new digital format.
In conjunction with the Wisconsin Department of Education, the Mitinet Team, led by NASA-trained Hank Epstein and his business partner Paul Jakoubek, developed the first ever PC-based MARC cataloging tools to assist K-12 librarians in creating electronic records and managing their database within the new automated library system.
With a long-standing tradition in library book sales and distribution, Harold Fitzgerald welcomed Mitinet to his family of businesses — Central Programs, Inc — in 2005 to carry forward the legacy of technological innovation for libraries around the world.
The Fitzgerald family continues to own and operate Mitinet, Inc. with their eyes on a bright future under the leadership of Harold’s son, Bart Fitzgerald. With offices in Bethany, Missouri, and Madison, Wisconsin, Mitinet continues to embrace the Midwestern values of quality, reliability, responsiveness, and the very best service for all of our customers.
